Digital Banking uses the industry's preferred security method, Secure Sockets Layer version 3.0 with 128-bit encryption.
Encryption occurs for all information going to and from both you and our Digital Banking system. Simply stated, encryption creates "mumbo jumbo." It scrambles otherwise meaningful text and numbers into numerical nonsense before transmission across the Internet. This process uses complex formulas to create a key that's used to translate the mumbo jumbo back to meaningful data. There are billions of potential keys, and a different one is used for each Digital Banking session. When you connect your device to Digital Banking, the system establishes which key will be used.
After your initial login to Digital Banking, you will be prompted to create a password. Here are the password security requirements:
- Must be at least 8 characters in length
- Contain one letter
- Contain one number
- Contain one of the following special characters: @ $ * ! _ ~ = . -
With the continued growth of Digital Banking and the threat of identity theft, there are increased needs for greater security standards in order to keep you and your money well protected. In addition, the government has issued new guidelines, calling for enhanced security measures for online banking. When your account is accessed from a computer that was not previously registered with Digital Banking, a one-time security code will need to be sent to a phone number, email address you have previously setup on your account, or by answering one of your security questions. After receiving the security code, you can register your device in order to bypass this extra security step for future logins. This enhanced security ensures that even if your username and password are compromised, a fraudster would also need access to your phone or email in order to successfully log into your account from an unregistered computer. We care deeply about offering easy access to your accounts while also making sure your money is safe by adhering to the highest standards of Digital Banking security.
